7:00pm to 8:30pmJudaism has always prioritized values such as bikkur cholim (visiting the sick), nichum aveilim (comforting mourners), and gemilut chasadim (acts of kindness), but it can be difficult to know how to actually show up for people we care about when they're struggling - especially in times of such widespread individual and communal loss. What should we say and not say? What are the best ways to support each other through the death of loved ones, break-ups, mental health struggles, recovering from traumatic events, and simply navigating one's life journey?
If this is something that feels alive for you, join Jconnect and Abby Brockman (MDiv, BCC) for a session that will explore how we can live out these Jewish values through ideas and practices that can help us make a difference when it matters most. We'll talk through concrete strategies for comforting grieving people and give you tools to think about how grief works. Feel free to bring specific and personal situations to the group for us to think through together!
In order to ensure accessibility, this workshop will be held on Zoom. Please RSVP here for the invitation.
